Apply Your First Desktop

Caution

Applying a desktop overwrites your current configuration files under ~/.config/ with the desktop-specific ones. Back up your files before continuing!

Desktop resources

To see all available desktops:

gtheme desktop list

For detailed information about a specific desktop (author, description, dependencies), visit the gtheme-desktops repository or run:

gtheme desktop info <desktop>

Install dependencies first

Before applying a desktop, make sure you’ve installed its dependencies. See Installing Dependencies for instructions.

Apply the desktop

CLI

gtheme desktop apply <desktop>

For example, to apply the hypr desktop:

gtheme desktop apply hypr

You can also apply a desktop with a specific theme in one command:

gtheme desktop apply hypr -t Dracula

TUI

1. Run gtheme without arguments to launch the TUI.
2. Navigate to the desktop you want using arrow keys.
3. Press Enter to apply it.

Caution

If this is your first desktop, you will need to reboot after applying it.

Note

Make sure to select the correct desktop environment (e.g., Hyprland, bspwm) in your display manager (login screen) after rebooting.
